Intentional
Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Intentional is run by China M McNeil Izaguirre ("we," "us," "our"). This policy covers the Intentional app and its web version at https://daily-ritual-studio.base44.app/.
Email: Intentional44@gmail.com
Mail: 4800 Morris Lane, Oklahoma City, OK 73112, United States
Where data protection law uses the term, we are the controller of the personal information used to run Intentional.
2. Your journal stays on your device
You don't need an account. Your typed Morning Pages, ritual notes, energy ratings, streaks, journal history, photo references and saved AI reflections are stored only on your device. We do not send typed entries, ritual notes or energy ratings to the AI service or to any cloud database.
Your journal does not sync between devices. If you clear browser or app storage, reset or uninstall the app, or lose your device, your journal may be gone for good. We cannot recover it. Device or operating-system backups are separate from Intentional and depend on your own settings.
3. What we process online
Photos. When you upload a handwritten page or ritual photo, it goes to Base44's private file storage. The image and its file metadata may contain personal information. The app keeps a reference on your device and uses device-based authorization to get temporary viewing links. Anyone who has a valid link can view the image until the link expires. Private storage is not end-to-end encryption, and service providers can still process the file.
AI reflections. If you turn on AI Reflections and upload a handwritten Morning Page, the image and reflection instructions go through Base44 to Google's Gemini model. Gemini reads your handwriting and writes a short reflection, which is saved on your device. Daily ritual prompts come from fixed lists and are not generated by AI. Ritual proof photos are stored for viewing only and are not sent for AI reflection.
Reminders and device authorization. Online features use device identifiers and authorization data to link your device to its uploaded files. If you turn on reminders, Base44 stores your reminder settings and the information needed to deliver them. You control notification permission in your device settings.
Technical data. When your device connects, Base44 and other delivery providers may process your IP address, request times, device or browser details, service identifiers and security logs. Keeping your journal on your device does not mean the app creates no network data.
Support. If you email us, we receive your email address, message, any attachments and any deletion reference you include. Only send what we need to help you.
4. AI permission and provider practices
The app asks your permission before sending any handwritten page for AI processing. Your choice is saved on your device. You can say no and keep journaling by typing, or change your choice in Settings → AI Reflections. Turning it off stops future submissions. It does not remove images or records providers already hold.
We send the image only to generate the reflection you asked for. Providers handle submitted content under their own terms, linked below, and we cannot control how long they keep it.
Do not upload highly sensitive material, such as medical records, ID documents, passwords or private information about someone else. Agreeing on the AI permission screen does not waive your privacy rights or our obligations.
Provider policies:
These are for reference. We remain responsible for how Intentional handles your data.
5. Why we use information and who receives it
We use information to run the features you request, control photo access, generate reflections, send reminders, answer support and privacy requests, keep the service secure, fix errors and meet legal obligations.
Who receives it: Base44 (app hosting and file storage), Google (AI processing you request) and providers that deliver notifications and email. People who help run Intentional may access server data when their role requires it. We have no dashboard that shows your typed journal.
The app has no ads and no analytics trackers in its code. We never use your journal to target ads. Infrastructure providers may still process operational data as described above.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, to establish or defend legal claims, to deal with illegal activity or security threats, or as part of a business transfer, subject to privacy protections and any required notice.
6. Keeping and deleting data
On your device. Your data stays until you remove it or clear storage. The Journal screen does not let you delete individual past entries. A full reset removes everything stored locally. You can undo today's ritual.
Delete all data. Settings → Data & Storage → Delete all data permanently deletes your uploaded photos from storage, removes your reminder settings and clears everything stored on your device. If the server step fails, the app tells you and lets you retry. Turning off notifications or uninstalling the app does not delete server data.
Provider records. Reset does not erase AI request records, provider logs or backups. We have not confirmed how long providers keep these. Contact us to ask or to request deletion, and we will follow up with the providers.
We keep support emails and our own records only as long as needed to resolve requests, keep a record of how we handled them, maintain security and meet legal obligations. The law or a legal claim may require us to keep some records longer. We cannot reach journal text stored only on your device.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent and appeal our decision on a request. You can also complain to your privacy regulator. These rights are subject to the conditions and exceptions in the law that applies to you.
Send requests or appeals to Intentional44@gmail.com. We may ask for reasonable information to verify who you are and find your records. We will respond within legal deadlines and will not treat you unfairly for using your rights. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before.
8. International processing
Online data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. We do not transfer journal text stored on your device. Where the law requires it, international transfers use a lawful safeguard. Contact us to learn which safeguards apply to your data.
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on a legal basis for processing: providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interest in security and support, legal compliance, or your consent where required. Extra conditions may apply to sensitive information.
9. Age requirement
Intentional is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has uploaded photos or contacted us, email Intentional44@gmail.com and we will delete the information we hold.
10. Security and changes
Photo uploads use private storage and access controls, but no system is completely secure. Protect your device and do not share temporary photo links.
We may update this policy when the service or the law changes. We will update the effective date and, where required, give you notice or ask for your consent before any materially different processing starts.
